Garmin Alpha Troubleshooting
Most Garmin Alpha problems are a short list: it will not charge, the screen is frozen or cracked, it will not pair, or it will not track. Work them in order - battery and charge port first, then a master reset, then hardware - and you fix the majority without a repair shop.
Won't charge or won't power on
Start with the battery: on the 100, 200 and 300 handhelds a worn pack is the most common cause and a cheap, user-replaceable fix. Next, clean the charge contacts and try a known-good charger and cable - a dirty or damaged port fakes a dead unit. An "unsupported battery detected" message usually means a bad contact or an off-brand pack, not a dead handheld.
Frozen or cracked screen, and resets
A frozen screen usually clears with a master reset - hold the power button through a full restart. A screen that is physically cracked is a documented repair: replacement LCD and screen assemblies are sold for the Alpha 100, so a broken screen is not automatically a new handheld. A screen protector prevents the repeat.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alpha 100 will not charge. What first?
Can I replace a cracked Alpha 100 screen?
Yes. Replacement LCD and screen assemblies are sold for the Alpha 100, so a cracked screen is a repair, not a write-off.
How do I reset a frozen Alpha?
Hold the power button through a full restart for a master reset. If it recurs, suspect the battery.
Why won't my collar track?
Re-pair it, update firmware, and rule out range in cover - a longer antenna often fixes marginal tracking.
